Lights glowing, fire going, Christmas music playing, and hot chocolate. It’s the perfect Christmas eve.

Jack: Are they all here now?
Christian: Well, there is no NOW here.
Jack: Where are we, dad?
Christian: This is the place that you all made together so that you could find one another. The most important part of your life was the time that you spent with these people. That’s why all of you are here. Nobody does it alone, Jack. You needed all of them and they needed you.
Jack: For what?
Christian: To remember and let go.
Jack: Kate. She said we were leaving.
Christian: Not leaving, no. Moving on.

Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. (Romans 12:2 MSG)

I randomly took a trip to Joseph Beth yesterday afternoon before heading to 608 and stumbled upon this daily devotional. I need to really focus on getting in the Word everyday and I thought doing a small study everyday to supplement this devotional would help me achieve that. God’s timing simply amazing me. Dec 5th’s topic: the temple of the Holy Spirit. It spoke of accountability and discipline. God has called us to be responsible for our own bodies, which we must respect because it is a temple for the Holy Spirit to live in us. It’s so easy to get quickly caught up in the culture and mindset of today. But God wants us to be responsible for our thoughts, desires, and actions and get rid of any impure junk in our lives. When we’re fixated on Him, we can have our bodies and minds under absolute control.
I just needed to hear just that today and I pray that God speaks to my heart and mind and guides me to make the right decisions to make my body fit to be a temple (and I know he will).
